Gary R. Mundt, son of Delmar and Loyola (McCullough) Mundt, was born February 6, 1943 in Manilla, Iowa, the oldest of nine children. He graduated from Manning High School in 1961. Following a few years of academic and work-related activity in the Midwest, he relocated to Colorado in 1967, where he spent the remainder of his life. He received his bachelor's degree from University of Denver and later his master's degree in business from Regis College in Denver. Gary passed away in Longmont, Colorado, on June 23, 2016, at the age of 73.
Gary enjoyed music, especially Bluegrass, Folk, and Irish genres. He was a voracious reader, skillful at drawing, and a lifelong car aficionado. He also enjoyed traveling, both domestic and international, with a particular fondness for Ireland and Irish genealogy. In addition, he made numerous trips to Italy with extended family and to Nicaragua with his grandchildren. Spending time with his grandchildren during his retirement years was an area of great enjoyment for him.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law Norma Sommer; and his sister-in-law Jayne Sommer. He is survived by his wife Linda (Sommer) Mundt, Longmont, Colorado; son Michael Mundt, daughter-in-law Heather Mundt and two grandsons, Brody and Colin Mundt, Longmont, Colorado; daughter Kelly Mundt, Omaha, Nebraska; father-in-law Melvin Sommer, Vail; siblings: Barb Brusegaard (Dick), Ft.
