In memory of Gale E. Rundell

Gale E., son of Charles and Ethel (Stoner) Rundell, was born March 5, 1938, on a farm near Mt. Rose, South Dakota. Dale graduated from high school and then lived and worked in Sioux City, Iowa. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1967.

On April 9, 1967, Gale was united in marriage with Barbara Sonksen in Sioux City. Barbara had moved to Sioux City with her parents, Joe & Edna (Karsten) Sonksen, from Manning. Gale and Barbara adopted a son David and the family lived and worked in Sioux City. In 1975 they moved to Omaha, Nebraska where Gale worked many years at Mutual of Omaha in the Materials Management Department.

Gale was very interested in politics and faithfully read the Omaha World Herald Public Pulse, having at least one letter published. When he was younger and healthier he attended huge family reunions in South Dakota every two years. Gale and Barbara were faithful members of the Midlands Baptist Temple in Omaha.

After Barbara's death in 1993, Gale continued to live in Omaha. He died at the Florence Home in Omaha on Monday, December 23, 2013, at the age of 75 years.

Preceding him in death are his parents; wife, brother, and also had a sister Joyce A. Wagner who proceeded him in death in 1980 in Lebanon, Pennsylvania.

Gale is survived by his son David Rundell (Tara) of Sultan, Washington; two grandchildren; Hazel Hanson, sister-in-law who was married to Lowell Rundell and has three sons with Lowell (Dan, Scott, Tim); sister in law Catherine Rundell of Bloomington, Minnesota; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

There will be a service at Midlands Baptist Temple in Omaha in the near future and then his cremated remains will be buried in the Manning Cemetery next to his wife.
