Casa Grande - Services for Fred P. Wiseman, 82, who died Sunday as a result of injuries suffered when he was struck by a train, will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Casa Grande Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Graveside services will be conducted at Mountain View Cemetery by the Knights of Pythias. Mr. Wiseman was born in Manning, Iowa, and came to Arizona 31 years ago. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias and a Mason. Survivors include two sons, Roland of Mesa and Wayne of Coolidge; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Fred Po Wiseman, 83, was killed at about 10:10 Sunday morning when he was hit by a Southern Pacific train behind the Casa Grande depot. He had returned from a Miami, Florida, convention of the Knights of Pythias by bus earlier in the morning, and was returning to town for breakfast when he was hit by the eastbound freight train, according to reports from the family.

Wiseman was a native of Carroll County, Iowa. He was born November 17, 1883, in Carroll County and died August 13, 1967. He attended Manning, Iowa, Schools, graduating in 1900, and was a 1901 graduate of Buena Vista College, Storm Lake, Iowa.

He was an accountant and auditor for meat packing firms in Iowa, Minnesota, and Illinois before coming to Coolidge in 1937. In 1938, he moved to Casa Grande, and he operated a service station at Florence and Second Streets during World War II.

Mr. Wiseman left the service station to go to work for the O.S. Stapley Co. in Casa Grande shortly after World War II, and worked there as an accountant until he retired in the early 1950's.

His wife, Mabel, died in 1950.

Mr. Wiseman was a charter member of Casa Grande Lodge 43, Knights of Pythias. He was a life member and past worshipful master, Rock Lodge 513, AF&AM, Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was also a member of the Casa Grande Valley Commandery 11, Knights Templar, a Rainbow Dad for 13 years, and a member of Al Skriz 279, Tucson, Dramatic Order of Knights of Khorassan.

Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the LDS Church, with graveside service at Mountain View cemetery by the Knights of Pythias, Grand Lodge of Arizona.

Mr. Wiseman is survived by two sons, Roland, of Mesa, and Wayne, of Coolidge; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
