Rites for Fred Timmerman, 87, of Manning, were conducted this morning, April 27, at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning.
Mr. Timmerman died Wednesday, April 23, 1987, at Manning Plaza where he had resided for about one year.
The Rev. Carl Sinning officiated and music was provided by Connie Siepker, organist.
Burial was at Manning City Cemetery. Casket bearers were Lawrence Sporrer, Harold Schmidt, Ronny Frahm, Dick Crandall, Orland Fara, and Harold Reinke.
Masonic memorial services were conducted Sunday evening by Manual Lodge No. 450, AF & AM, of Manning.
Born in Persia, Iowa, on July 18, 1899, he was a son of William and Dora (Blocker) Timmerman. When he was a youth, the family moved to Manning, where he attended school.
He worked in the Central Meat Market, a family business started by his father, eventually becoming full proprietor. He married Veronica O'Brien in 1940.
After 1943, he operated the hog market in Manning. He was also a cattle and hog feeder and was engaged in trucking.
Mr. Timmerman was honored as a 50-year member of Manual Lodge No. 450, AF & AM, in 1980. He was a founding member of the Manning-Manilla Country Club.
Survivors include his son, Ron Timmerman and his wife, Diann, of Omaha and two grandchildren, Matt and Cara.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Veronica; his parents; two brothers, Charles as an infant and Henry; and a sister, Gertrude Sutherland.
