FRED D. STOLEY

Fred D. Stoley, 98, of Irwin, a native of Manning, died Tuesday, May 4, 1982, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 6, at the United Methodist Church in Irwin with the Rev. Leon Wallace officiating. Music was provided by Mr. and Mrs. Milton Barry. Burial was in Rosehill cemetery at Kirkman. Serving as casketbearers were Earl Knudson, Andrew Rasmussen, William Shannon, Leo Grage, Marvin Barratt, and George Gawley.

The Ohde Funeral Home of Manning was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Stoley is survived by nieces and nephews and by John McCue, who was raised by Fred and Nellie Stoley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sisters and seven brothers.

Mr. Stoley was born November 8, 1883, at Manning, a son of Claus and, Katherine (Finsen) Stoley. He attended Kirkman schools. He was married to Nellie Ann Clark on July 3, 1907, at Defiance. They lived in the Kirkman and Irwin communities and later moved to Harrison County where they lived for 10 years.

They returned to Shelby County and lived near Botna for many years, then moved to Irwin. She died June 17, 1963, and since that time he continued to make his home in Irwin. He had been in failing health for three years and during this time Mr. and Mrs. John McCue came to live with him.
