Johann M. Ansorge, the pastor of the local Lutheran Church, as well as a close personal friend of the deceased, officiated.

Mr. Ross, who was suddenly stricken with a heart attack Saturday, April 1, at 12:30 noon, at his place of business, passed away in the presence of his son, Raymond, and his daughter, Selma, who were at the garage at the time.

Fred Ross was born June 17, 1882, in Lincoln Township, Audubon County, Iowa. He was the son of Fred and Mary (Witt) Ross. On February 20, 1907, he was united in holy wedlock to Elizabeth Meyer also of Lincoln Township. The first years of their happy married life were spent on farms near Templeton, Iowa, and in Lincoln Township. During the last few years of his farm life Mr. Ross interested himself to a great extent in the automobile repair business as well as selling some of the first cars in Lincoln Township. His interest in this line of work appealed to him to such an extent that twenty-four years ago he moved to Manning, opening a garage on Third Street. Since that time he has operated the Ford Sales and Service Garage here in Manning. Associated with him, were his son, Raymond and a brother August J. Ross.

Mr. Ross is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Ross; a daughter, Selma Ross; a son, Raymond, as well as three sisters: Emma (Mrs. Chris Barten) of Manning, Sophie (Mrs. Lewis Jurgens) of Audubon, and Ida (Mrs. Paul Borkowski) of Manning; two brothers: Herman Ross of Mountain Lake, Minnesota, and August J. Ross of Manning.

Interment was made in the Manning Cemetery with the following acting as pallbearers: Henry A. Boysen, John Reetz, Leon Hass, Herman C. Pahde, C.A. Case, and Harry Schade.
