Last Rites Held For Mrs. Pfoltner

Funeral services for Mrs. Frauke Pfoltner, 96 Manning's oldest resident, were held Monday afternoon, February 25, at the Ohde Funeral home in Manning, with Rev. Harlan Kruse of the Presbyterian Church in charge. Clifford M. Johnson was soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Herbert Groteluschen.

Burial was in the Manning Cemetery. Grandsons acted as pallbearers. They are Harold Jensen, Audubon; Dewey Pfoltner, Kansas City, Missouri; George F. Pfoltner, Earl Pfannkuch, Lewis Schroeder, Manning; and Charles Schelldorf, Des Moines.

Mrs. Pfoltner was born on April 8, 1855, in Alsdorf, Germany, to John and Frauke (Thede) Hoffmann. She was married there to Jurgen Pfoltner in 1875. In 1884, the couple came to Davenport, Iowa, and to Carroll County in 1900. They farmed near Manning until 1911, when they moved to town.

Mr. Pfoltner died on January 9, 1935, and a son, Chris, on August 30, 1950.

Mrs. Pfoltner passed away at her home on Friday afternoon, February 22, 1952, after a lengthy illness.

She is survived by the following children: Herman, Hans, George, and Charles Pfoltner, Manning; Mrs. Louis E. Schelldorf (Alma), Mrs. William Horman (Kate), Manning; Mrs. Irwin Studeman (Ann), Renwick; and Mrs. Lillian Fordyce, Spokane, Washington.

There are 21 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
