FRANK W. PRUTER

Frank W. Pruter, 97, believed to be Manning's oldest resident, died in the Pfoltner Nursing Home, Manning, Tuesday afternoon September 23, 1958, from complications of old age.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Ohde Funeral Home, Manning, with the Rev. Carl Sinning of the Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery.

Mr. Pruter was born June 21, 1861, at Kellinghausen, Holstein, Germany. At the age of eight, he came to the United States with his parents settling first at Wheatland, Iowa. In 1873, the family moved to Crawford County.

He was married to Augusta Kruse at Denison October 13, 1886. In 1887, Mr. and Mrs. Pruter began farming in Hayes Township and continued there until they retired and moved to Manning March 1, 1921. Mrs. Pruter died December 15, 1954, shortly after the couple had observed their 68th wedding anniversary.

Mr. and Mrs. Pruter had five children, two of whom are living - Frank Pruter of Oakland, California, and Mrs. Walter (Emma) Miller of Manning. Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.

Preceding Mr. Pruter in death besides his wife were two sons, Julius and Gus, and a daughter, Mrs. Ed Molter.

Frank Pruter, Jr. is expected to arrive Thursday from California.
