Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Ohde were held Thursday, March 26, 1981, at 11 a.m. at the Ohde Funeral Home, Manning with Pastor Edward F. Heinicke, Zion Lutheran Church, officiating. Organist was Bonita Hagedorn. Interment was in Manning Cemetery with Willis Puck, Gilbert Phillips, Claus Bunz, Lyle Arp, Orval Fink, and Francis Zerwas as casketbearers. Ohde Funeral Home, Manning was in charge of arrangements.
Frances, daughter of Julius and Caroline (Koepke) Brunnier, was born June 7, 1889, at Manning, Iowa, and the last survivor of her eleven brothers and sisters.
On June 18, 1907, she was united in marriage with William Ohde by Reverend John M. Ansorge at Manning. She worked with her husband in funeral service in the Manning area for over fifty years. She enjoyed her home and yard with its flowers and birds.
In 1967, Frances and William celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Two years later on August 16, 1969, William passed away.
In the last years, she was able to remain in her home because of the help and companionship of Mrs. Bernice Justice. Following a fall, she entered the Manning Plaza in 1978. She had been in failing health for the past year and died at the Manning General Hospital on Monday, March 23, 1981, at the age of 91 years, 9 months, and 16 days.
She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Manning.
Beside her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; by seven sisters, Carrie, Katie, Agnes, Dora, Bertha, Minnie, and Matilda; by three brothers, Julius, Charles, and Grover.
She is survived by her son, William F. Ohde and his wife, Bernice, of Manning; by four grandchildren, Ruth and her husband, Ron Niemann, of Manning, Linda and her husband, George Farley of Lake Forest, Illinois, William G. Ohde of Manning, and John Ohde and his wife, Helen of Manning; by four great-grandchildren, Ron Beaver and Alison Beaver of Manning, Julie Bachman and John Bachman of Lake Forest, Illinois, as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
