Florence M. Seidl, 91, of Dedham died Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at Good Samaritan Village Nursing Home in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Mass of the Christian burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 25, at St. Joseph Catholic
Church in Dedham with the Rev. Anthony Pick presiding and Deacon Louis Meiners
assisting. Lector will be Tom Seidl. Gift bearers will be Mrs. Seidl's grandchildren: Jane
Gunther, Yvette Hayes, Michael Brown, Eric Brown and Daniel Brown. Servers will be
Brittany and Danny Baumhover. Eucharistic minister will be Donna Ankenbauer.
Casket bearers will be Ron Brus, Dean Garnett, Bob Nair, Dick McMahon, Denny Pierce
and Dave Seidl.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery at Dedham.
Visitation starts at 2:30 and a rosary will be prayed at 3 Thursday afternoon at Sharp
Funeral Home in Carroll. St. Joseph Parish will hold a Christian wake service at 8
Thursday night at the funeral home. Visitation will resume at noon Friday at the church.
A daughter of Hugo and Margaret (Ehrichs) Brus, she was born July 15, 1916, at Gray,
spent her younger years there, attended White Bear Country School and graduated from
Gray High School in 1934.
She then played piano for the Harmony Boys Band of Manning.
She and Ludwig "Hookie" Seidl were married June 18, 1946, at St. Joseph Church with the Rev. Henry Pick officiating.
The Seidls settled in Dedham.
Mrs. Seidl moved to Sioux Falls six years ago to be near her daughter, Linda.
She was a member of St. Joseph Parish and Ladies Guild and the Dedham Firettes, and
she enjoyed sewing, baking, gardening, playing cards and music.
Survivors include two daughters: Linda Schunneman and husband Bob of Sioux Falls and Lila Brown and husband Norman of Knoxville; five grandchildren: Jane Gunther, Yvette Hayes and husband Ronald, Michael Brown and wife Robyn, Eric Brown and wife Lauren and Daniel Brown; 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law: Alvina Bies of Salem, South Dakota, Leona Seidl of Coon Rapids and Mary Meyer of Carroll; and two brothers-in-law: Henry Seidl of Carroll and Joseph Seidl of Roselle.
Mrs. Seidl was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hookie, in May 1989; two sisters: Rosella McMahon and Ann Nielsen; a brother, Leroy Brus; nine brothers-in-law: Harold Nielsen, Melvin McMahon, John Bies, Merlyn Nair, Keith Jenkins, Rupert Seidl, Frank Mayer, Bill Dillon and Frank Meyer; and seven sisters-in-law: Lucille Brus, Emma Nair, Martha Jenkins, Eleanora Mayer, Hilda Dillon, Phyllis Seidl and Bernilda Seidl.
