Florence Riggs

Florence Eleanor (Emmons) Riggs, 81, of Salem, Oregon, died Monday, May 18, 1992, in Dallas, Oregon.

She was born in Manning, Iowa, August 24, 1910, to Orrin William and Jennie Centennial (Scott) Emmons, and was 13 years old when the family moved to Salem, Oregon.

She graduated from Willamette University in 1930.

She married Lyle Nelson Riggs on December 28, 1932, in Salem.

She enjoyed church library work and other church activities and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She also was a member of P.E.O. Sisterhood and Case Circle.

Survivors include her husband; son, James L. of Jacksonville; daughter, June R. Sprauer of Clackamas; brother, Clarence "Pat" Emmons of Albany; sister, Genevieve Armstrong of Salem; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday in the First United Methodist Church. Graveside services will follow at 4 p.m. in Belcrest Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Virgil T. Golden mortuary.
