Florence Louise, daughter of Harry and Laura (Joens) Kruse, was born March 30, 1915, in Crawford County, Iowa and was baptized on July 25 that same year. She attended country school Hayes No. 7 near her home. Florence was confirmed into the Lutheran Faith on March 29, 1931, and graduated from Manning High School in 1933. Following her graduation she was employed by the Denison Hospital and then worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Anderson, DDS for eight years.

On November 18, 1941, Florence was united in marriage with William Ramsey in Omaha, NE. During Bill's military service, Florence was able to travel with him to various bases. After his honorable discharge they lived in Botna for six years before moving to the family farm in Crawford County for 10 years. After the sudden death of her husband in 1962, Florence moved into Manning. Over the years, Florence served as a cook at the Kiddie Korner Day Care and was a bookkeeper at J&S Feeds. She took great pleasure in being a good homemaker, mother and grandmother.

Florence was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Manning and their Ladies' Aid and Braille Group. She and Bill enjoyed participating with the Belle's & Beaux's Square Dance Club and Pinochle Card Club. Florence was active in the VFW Auxiliary and received the Governor's Volunteer Award. She enjoyed flower gardening, crafts, traveling, playing cards and being outdoors. Florence especially enjoyed being with her family. When Florence could no longer live alone, she became a resident of the Manning Plaza Nursing Home in September of 1999. She entered into eternal life on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, at the age of 94 years, 4 months and 6 days.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husband William (Bill); brothers-in-law: William Sander, Ray Brockman, Robert Ramsey and wife Charlotte; Donald Ramsey: Howard Ramsey; sisters-in-law: Doris and husband Amos Rutz; Neva and husband Leroy Hahn; and Barbara Ramsey; and niece Corrine Jahn.

Survivors include her daughter Donna and husband David Maasen of Johnston; three grandsons: Scott Maasen of Scottsdale, AZ; Kirk Maasen and wife Cheri of Westminster, CO and Ryan Maasen of Scottsdale, AZ; four great-grandchildren: Mackenzie and Maclane Maasen and Hunter and Chase Maasen; two sisters Willetta Sander of Denison and Dolores Brockman of Carroll; brother-in-law Merlin Ramsey of Temple City, CA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The Everlasting Light
Those we love must someday
pass beyond our present
sight…must leave us and the
world we know without their radiant light.
But we know that like a
candle, their lovely light will
shine to brighten up another
place more perfect…
more divine.
And in the realm of Heaven,
where they shine so warm and bright,
our loved one's live forever
in God's eternal light.

The family wishes to express their gratitude for your kindness evidenced in thought, word and deed, and invites you to join them for lunch and fellowship at the church following the committal service.
In memory of Bill, a red rose has been placed on his memorial window near the altar.

Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church in Manning or the Alzheimer's Association.
