Evelyn "June" Wishman

Evelyn "June" Wishman, 79, of Sioux City, died on Sunday, April 1, 2012.
There will be a celebration of her life service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 5, at St Mark Lutheran Church.
A luncheon and time of fellowship with the family will follow.
Rev. David Cox will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.
Private graveside services will be at the Glidden City Cemetery.

June was born on March 25, 1933, in Glidden. She was the daughter of Roy Thomas and Beatrice (Long) Solt.

June graduated from Glidden Community High School in 1950. She attended Iowa State Teachers College and then received a master's degree in Library Science from the University of Northern Iowa. June worked as a librarian and teacher for various schools in Iowa. She taught in the late 1970s at Manning High School, in Manning, Iowa.

She retired in 1996 from Hoover Middle School after being with the Sioux City Community School District for 26 years. June was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and the Red Hat Society. She was a professional story teller and wrote a book, The Farmers Daughter, also known as The Brat. June also enjoyed traveling.

She was survived by three daughters: Wendy Lingo and her husband Jim of Mt. Dora, Florida; Toni and Teresa Wishman of Denison; one sister: Joy Gregory and her husband Bill of Glidden; two grandsons: James and Michael "Mike" Lingo and Mitchell Lingo.

June was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers: Wilford Solt and Donald Solt and her sisters: Margery peters and Mavis Shoemaker.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Mark Lutheran Church or WESCO in Denison.
