Evelyn Will

Funeral services for Evelyn Will will be held December 31, 1992, at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Irwin. Pastor Ted Sieck will officiate the service with interment being held at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin after 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning.

Evelyn, daughter of Burton and Rosa (Paulk) Guss, was born September 22, 1902, in Decatur, Arkansas. The family moved to Irwin, Iowa, when Evelyn was three years old. She attended school in Irwin through the ninth grade.

On September 29, 1920, Evelyn was united in marriage with Ernest Frederick Will. They made their home in the Irwin area. Ernest passed away on January 1, 1962. Evelyn continued to live in her farm home until moving to the Manning Plaza in March of 1992. She died suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday evening, December 27, 1992, at Manning General Hospital, Manning, Iowa, at the age of 90 years, 3 months, and 5 days.

Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; by a brother, Leslie, as a child; and by a brother, Laurence.
Survivors included her children: Delbert Will, of Irwin; Marvin Will and his wife, Audrey, of Hemet, California; Grace Malcolm, of Brownsville, Texas; Bernyce and her husband, Marvin Gaer, of Manning; and Kay and her husband, Lee Batter-son, of Wadena, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; the following brothers and sisters: Edwin (Bud) Guss and his wife, Jessica, of Newport, Washington; Dean Guss and his wife, Mary, of Royal Oaks, Michigan; Howard Guss and his wife, Shirley, of Carson, California; Robert Guss and his wife, Laurie, of Manhattan Beach, California; Edith Murray, of Harlan; Sarah Taylor, of Guthrie Center; and Mae Summers, of Harlan; a sister-in-law, Frances Guss, of Webster City; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Evelyn was a member of the Church of Christ in Irwin and of the parish ladies organization. She also held membership in the Eastern Star, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Library Club.
