Mrs. Esther Popp, 75, of Manning died at Manning General Hospital Friday, September 26, 1975. She had lived at the Manning Plaza nursing home for the last five years.
Funeral rites were held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Ohde Funeral Home here, with burial in the Manning Cemetery. Pastor Edward F. Heinicke, of Zion Lutheran Church, officiated.
Pallbearers were Steve Atkins, Kenneth Jensen, Roy Struve, George Musfeldt, Glen Jensen, and Wayne Jensen.
Mrs. Popp was born March 10, 1900, in Jackson County, a daughter of Anton and Anna (Jebsen) Jensen. As a child, she moved with her family to a farm south of Manning.
She attended rural school and high school for two years. In June, 1920, she married Otto Popp. They farmed near Arcadia until 1940 and then south of Manning.
Following her husband's death September 10, 1954, Mrs. Popp continued to live on the farm until moving into Manning in 1964. She was a member of 'Zion Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Popp is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Billie (Marilyn) Nelson of Manning; a son, Larry of Denison; eight grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Struve and Mrs. Nora Musfeldt, both of Manning.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Fred, Albert and Gus Jensen, and three sisters, Mrs. Hulda Grundmeier, Mrs. Gladys Slates, and Mrs. Verna Atkins.
