ERNST GUSTAV RESS
Ernst Gustav Ress, 71, of Manilla Manor, Manila, died at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital Wednesday evening, June 15, 1977. He entered the hospital several days ago after a fall.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Manilla. Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery under the direction of the Ohde Funeral Home, Manilla.

Friends may call at the Ohde Funeral Home, Manilla, after 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Mr. Ress, son of Gustav and Anna (Fischer) Ress, was born on September 26, 1905, in Lincoln Township, Audubon County, Iowa. He was baptized in Lincoln Township Trinity Lutheran Church and was confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church, Denison. He had made his home with his parents. In 1931, they moved to Manilla where he worked at various jobs, including a salesman for Rawleigh Products and a carrier for the Des Moines Sunday Register as well as caring for his invalid mother.

After his parent's death, he continued to make his home in Manilla. He entered the Manilla Manor Nursing home on October 8, 1976. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Manilla.

Surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. William F. (Ella) Asmus of Audubon; Mrs. Pauline Lake of the Manning Plaza, Manning, Mrs. Herman (Ida) Jochimsen of Manning, Hugo Ress of Manning, Emil Ress of Manning, Mrs. Willey (Edna) Hansen of Manila, Mrs. Ann Hoelscher of Perry, and Mrs. Rockley (Norma) Wenzel of Frazee, Minnesota.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Clara Hammer of Denison.
