ERMA E. WIESE
Erma Wiese, 80, of Aspinwall, died Saturday, January 8, at the Manilla Manor Nursing Home in Manilla.
She was a former schoolteacher and for many years was city clerk in Aspinwall.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 12, at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning. Connie Siepker will be the organist and Ray Pratt will sing. Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery. Casket bearers will be William Dammann, Harold Voege, Sal Grundmeier, Roy Schilling, Roy Soll, and Ed Ramsey.
Mrs. Wiese is survived by a son, Don Wiese, and a granddaughter, Karen Wiese, both of Vancouver, Wash; a twin sister, Mrs. Enid Barsby, Manning; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, Earl and Lyle Hays; and three sisters, Mary Doolittle, Delphia White, and Blanche Grelck.
Mrs. Wiese was born August 4, 1902, at Manning, a daughter of Harry C. and Elvira Jane Swearingen Hays. She graduated from Manning High School in 1923 and taught schools in Crawford County for three years after completing her normal training.
She was married in 1926 to Meves Wiese at the Presbyterian manse in Manning. They farmed north of Aspinwall and later moved into Aspinwall where she became city clerk. She was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church at Manning, and a former member of the Manning American Legion Auxiliary. Her husband died on November 8, 1963. She continued to live in Aspinwall until August 12, 1982, when she entered the nursing home in Manilla.
