MRS. GEORGE (EMMA) WENTZEL
Mrs. George (Emma) Wentzel, 90, died at the Manning Plaza Monday morning, September 17, 1979, after a two-week illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 20 at Zion Lutheran church here with Pastor Edward F. Heinicke, officiating. Organist will be Mrs. Dorothy Kusel and soloist Jeff Clothier Casketbearers will be Merlin Struve, Joe Sonksen, Victor Schwiesow, Robert Hagedorn, Gerald Beck, and Don Zubrod. The Ohde Funeral Home of Manning is in charged arrangements.

Survivors include two daughters: Mrs. Myrtle Ingraham, Port Angeles, Washington, and Mrs. Mildred Joens, Manning, four grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Matia Prebbonow, Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. She was preceded by two husbands, her parents, two brothers Fred and Rudolph Hass and two sisters Mrs. Augusta Sanger and Mrs. Lena Borkowski.

Mrs. Wentzel was born March 9, 1889, at Rimington, Wood County, Wisconsin, a daughter of August and Julia (Piost) Hass She attended rural schools near her home and later schools at Babcock, Wisconsin. She worked in paper mills near her home and in 1907 was married to Elmer Compton. In 1911, she moved to Manning where she worked. She was married to George Wentzel August 3, 1915. He died October 30, 1966.

She had worked for the Priebe Produce Company for about 20years.

Mrs. Wentzel was a member of Zion Lutheran Church she was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Nekoosa, Wisconsin, in 1902. She had been a member of the Zion Church Ladies Aid Society. She lived in her own home here until 1977.
