Emma Christina Schrum, daughter of Marx H. and Magaretha Schrum was born near Manning, Iowa, on November 15, 1892. She attended rural schools in Crawford County, Iowa, and made her home with her parents until her marriage. She was married to August F. Schroeder on March 8, 1911, at Denison, Iowa. They moved to Moody County after their marriage and farmed east of Egan until the death of Mr. Schroeder in 1962. She continued to make her home on the farm until 1964 when she moved to Flandreau. She was a member of the Lutheran Church.
She is survived by one son Arlo Schroeder, Egan; two daughters, Verna, Mrs. Ralph Felker, Provo, Utah, and DeEtta, Mrs. Ted Magness, Los Angeles, California; three brothers, Willie Schrum, Adair, Iowa, Gus Schrum, Denison, Iowa, Hugo Schrum, Manning, Iowa; two sisters, Amanda Schrum, Manning, and Mrs. Alvina Schroeder, Egan; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son Roy, two sisters and one brother.

Flandreau, South Dakota - Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at
Our Savior's Lutheran Church for Mrs. Emma Schroeder, 79, who died Sunday in
the Riverview Nursing Home at Flandreau. Emma Schrum was born November 15, 1892,
near Manning, Iowa. She was married to August Schroeder on March 8, 1911, at
Denison, Iowa. The couple farmed near Egan until Mr. Schroeder's death in 1962.
Mrs. Schroeder continued to live on the farm until 1964 when she moved to Flandreau.
Survivors include a son, Arlo, Egan; two daughters, Mrs. Ralph Felker, Provo, Utah; and Mrs. Ted Magness, Los Angeles, California; three brothers, Willie Schrum, Adair, Iowa; Gus, Denison, Iowa, and Hugo, Manning, Iowa; two sisters, Amanda Schrum, Manning and Mrs. Alvina Schroeder, Egan, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Interment will be at the Hillside Cemetery, Egan.
