Funeral services for Emma C. Schilling were held Saturday, August 17, 1985, at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Manilla, Iowa. Pastor Glenn Wiechmann officiated with Bonnie Lorenzen as organist and Mark Grundmeier as vocalist. Interment was in Manning City Cemetery with Donald Schroeder, Wallace Schroeder, Edward Dahleen, David Schilling, Jeffrey Schilling and LeRoy Lingle as casketbearers. A prayer service was held Friday, August 16, 1985, at 8:00 p.m. at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning. Ohde Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Emma, daughter of Louis and Mary Lemster Schroeder was born August 27, 1905, in Iowa Township, Crawford County, Iowa. She attended the Aspinwall School. She was united in marriage November 21, 1923, with John Schilling. They lived in Aspinwall where they farmed for a time and John did carpenter work. Emma was a homemaker and enjoyed being home with her family. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Manilla.

Emma had been a resident of the Manilla Manor for the past year and a half. She had been in failing health for about two weeks before her death on Thursday, August 15, 1985, at Crawford County Memorial Hospital, Denison, Iowa, at the age of 79 years, 11 months, and 18 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband on November 7, 1968; by a brother, William; and by a sister, Margareta, as a young girl.

Emma is survived by five sons: Alvin, of Aspinwall; Robert and his wife, Helen, of Kimberling City, Missouri; Roy, of Aspinwall; Dewey, of Norfolk, Nebraska; and Ronald, and his wife, Susan, of Aspinwall; by five grandchildren: Jeffrey Schilling, and his fiancee, Shyla Burmester of Joplin, Missouri; Dianne Schilling of Kimberling City, Missouri; David, Mary, and Chris Schilling of Aspinwall; by two sisters: Amanda Clausen and Florence Thomssen, both of Aspinwall; and by one brother, Harry Schroeder, and his wife, Marie, of Aspinwall; by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
