Mrs. Emma Scheldorf

Mrs. Emma M. Scheldorf, 86, who suffered a fall at her home in Westside November 10, died at Manning General Hospital about noon Tuesday, November 29, 1966.

Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. John's United Church of Christ in Westside, with burial in Westside Cemetery. The Rev. E.G. Brinkmeyer will officiate. Friends may call at the Ohde Funeral Home, Manning.

A daughter of George and Anna (Everhart) Ohde, Mrs. Scheldorf was born November 10, 1880, in Hayes Township, Crawford County. She attended rural school, and at the age of ten, moved to Manning with her parents. On September 5, 1900, she married John D. Scheldorf in the Lutheran Church at Denison. They farmed northwest of Westside until retiring and moving into Westside in 1946. Following the death of her husband on December 30, 1950, Mrs. Scheldorf continued to live in Westside.

Surviving are five sons: Marvel, Western Springs, Illinois; Ranald, Manning; Rufert, Westside; Wilbur, Channel View, Texas; and Owen, Louisville, Kentucky; four daughters, Mrs. Viola Shouse, Omaha, Nebraska; Mrs. Leo (Ellen) Gilbert, Portland, Oregon; Mrs. Richard (Anna) Underwood, Easthampton, Massachusetts; and Emily Scheldorf, Manning; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one brother, William Ohde, Sr., Manning.

Mrs. Emma M. Scheldorf, 86, widow of John D. Scheldorf of Westside, Iowa, and mother of Anna (Mrs. Richard F.) Underwood of Easthampton, Massachusetts, died Tuesday, November 29, 1966, in Manning General Hospital, Manning, Iowa, after a short illness. She was born and reared in Iowa. Mr. Scheldorf died 10 years ago. Mrs. Underwood flew out to Iowa last Friday to be with her mother.

She also leaves eight other children, Marvel of Chicago, Illinois: Ranald of Manning, Iowa; Wilbur of Houston, Texas: Owen of Louisville, Kentucky; and Rufert of Westside; Mrs. Leo Gilbert of Portland, Oregon; Mrs. Viola Shouse of Omaha, Nebraska; and Miss Emily Scheldorf of Manning, Iowa; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held on Saturday from the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning, followed by a service at the Evangelical Church in Westside, with burial in Westside, Iowa. Transcript-Telegram Holyoke, Massachusetts December 1, 1966
