EMMA ROWEDDER
Emma, daughter of Herman and Katie (Karsten) Rowedder, was
born February 24, 1904, on a farm near Manning. She attended rural school. As a
young woman she worked at Priebe and Son's, and Paulsen's Cafe in Manning. She
also helped local families in their homes. After working for Ocoma Foods in Carroll, she returned to Aspinwall to care
for her parents in their home. Several years after her
parents' death she moved to the Elm Crest Apartments in Manning as one of the
first residents. She thoroughly enjoyed being with her friends at Elm
Crest. Emma was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and an associate member of its Ladies Guild.
Emma entered Crawford County Memorial Hospital early Saturday morning and, after suffering a stroke, she died there later in the day, on December 17, 1988, at the age of 84 years, nine months and 23 days.
Emma is survived by two brothers, Herb Rowedder, Manning, and Ivan Rowedder and his wife, Norma of Schleswig; by one sister, Elsie and her husband, Lewis Anthony of Denison; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 20 at 2 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church at Manning with Pastor Robert Riggert officiating. Music was furnished by Marlene Jahn and Laurie Powers singing "How Great Thou Art" and "I'm But A Stranger Here;" and the congregation singing "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" and "Hark The Glad Sound," with Paula Weiss serving as organist.
Interment was in the Manning City Cemetery with Royce Anthony, Stan Spies, Daryle Rowedder, Don Vaudt, Rick Rowedder and Mark Rowedder serving as pallbearers.
