Mrs. Emma Rothfolk

Mrs. Emma Margaret Rothfolk, daughter of Andrew and Maria Meggers, was born April 14, 1858, at New Holstein, Wis., and passed away at Manning June 1, 1946, at the age of 88 years, 1 month, and 17 days.

She was united in marriage with Peter N. Rothfolk Nov. 5, 1876 and to this union seven children were born. Those surviving are: Anna Rothfolk, James Rothfolk, and Mrs. Frank Hinz of Manning and Mrs. Harry McWhirter of Fairfield. Her husband passed away Feb. 4, 1934. Three children also preceded her in death. She also leaves to thirteen grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren and many friends.

Mrs. Rothfolk came with her husband and family to Iowa in 1901, living at Jefferson until 1909 then moving to Manning where she has since resided.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. J.J. Brabbs at the Ohde Funeral Home on Monday June 3. The body was laid to rest beside her husband in the Manning Cemetery.

Music by quartette. Pallbearers were Henry Boysen, Louis Ehlers, Herman Pahde, Albert Puck, John Struve, and Chris Barten.

Attending the services from a distance were Mrs. Minnie Clausen, Miss Emily Meggers and Mrs. Bertha Schneider of Ogden, Mrs. Kenneth Esser and daughter of Des Moines, Mrs. Marion Meek and son of Mason City, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Rothfolk, Mrs. Ed Rothfolk and children of Bagley, Mrs. Chas. McCone of Manilla.


Emma Rothfolk is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
