EMMA H. MILLER
Emma, daughter of Frank and Augusta Kruse Pruter, was born March 10, 1898 on a farm near Westside, Iowa. She attended country schools near her home. On October 4, 1923 she was united in marriage with Walter David Miller. They farmed near the Five Mile House for five years and then settled west of Manning in 1928 where they farmed until 1964. While living in the country Emma was a member of the neighbor-hood women's group. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the VFW Auxiliary. In 1964 Emma and her husband moved into Manning. Her husband, Walter, died in March 1983 after residing in the Manning Plaza for three years. Emma remained in their home until June of 1984 when she became a resident of the St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll. After three years she returned to Manning to reside at the Manning Plaza Nursing Home until the time of her death there on Thursday, November 24, 1988 at the age of 90 years, 8 months, and 14 days.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; by a son, John F. in 1985; by a sister, Caroline "Lena" Molter; and by three brothers, Julius, Frank, and Gus Pruter.

Emma is survived by her daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Miller, of Manning; by a granddaughter, Jane Miller, of Waterloo; by a grandson, Sgt. David Miller, of the Suwon Air Base, South Korea; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

THE TWENTY-THIRD PSALM
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still water. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me: Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anoitest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
