EMILIE NIELSEN VOSS
Funeral services for Emilie (Nielsen) Voss were held Friday, July 29, 1988, at 2:00 p.m. at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning. Reverend Randy Ross of the First Presbyterian Church officiated the service, with Janet Myer, organist, and Ray Pratt, vocalist. Interment was in Morgan Township Cemetery, Schleswig, Iowa, with Einer Nielsen, Dale Fries, Larry Johnson, Dana Jorgensen, Erwin Voss, and Oliver Meier serving as casketbearers.

Emilie, daughter of Peter and Augusta (Petersen) Nielsen, was born December 5, 1903, on a farm west of Schleswig, Iowa. In 1909 the family moved to Schleswig where Emilie attended school.

On October 28, 1924, Emilie was united in marriage with Emil Voss. They farmed near Schleswig until 1940 when they moved to a farm located north of Manilla in East Boyer Township, Crawford County, Iowa. Emilie's husband died in 1972 and that fall she moved to Manning. She enjoyed her home near the Manning City Park and attended the First Presbyterian Church.

In late 1986 Emilie moved to the Manila Manor Nursing Home. She died early Wednesday morning, July 27, 1988, at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison at the age of 84 years, 7 months, and 22 days.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; by six sisters: Mathilda Reimer, Mary Boysen, Julia Petersen, Margretha Meier, Dora Urban, and Anna Eyler; and by a brother in infancy.

Emilie is survived by nieces, nephews, and friends.
