Funeral services for Emil Wiese, 67, were held at the Ohde Funeral home Sunday with The Rev. Harlan Kruse of the Manning Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial was in the Manning Cemetery.
A quartet composed of Ray Pratt, Clifford Johnson, Mae Schrum, and Emma Dietz sang, accompanied by Mrs. H.W. Hagedorn. Pallbearers were Ray Sander, Henry E. Meyers, Albert Andresen, Hilbert Eischeid, Wilbur Hill and John Musfeldt, Jr.
Mr. Wiese was born November 18, 1881, in Scott County, a son of Joachim and Emma Wiese. He died December 2, 1948.
Mr. Wiese came to the Manning vicinity with his parents when he was a small boy. On March 4, 1901, he was married to Mary Witt of Manning who died in March 1945. They had one daughter, Mrs. Henry J.M. Hansen (Alta), who survives.
Mr. Wiese had been active in community affairs. He served as township clerk and assessor for a number of years and had been president of the South Crawford R.E.A. since its organization 12 years ago. He combined auctioneering with his farming, having retired from active farm work several years ago.
Besides his daughter, he leaves two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Kate Selway and Mrs. Mae Theobald, Astor; John, Flandreau, South Dakota, and Gus, Great Falls, Montana.
