Emil Wegner Dies Suddenly At Aspinwall Home
The sudden death of Mr. Emil Wegner of Aspinwall, Saturday, April 15, 1939, caused profound sorrow and was a distinct shock to the entire community.

Emil Wegner was born on April 23, 1891, at the Wegner home place in Iowa Township, Crawford County three miles west and one mile south of Manning, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wegner. He was educated in the school in Aspinwall and helped his father with the farm work as he grew to manhood.

On February 13, 1918, he was united in marriage to Miss Margreth (Note: Margaret in the tombstone) Vehrs at Manning, Iowa, to which union six children were born, namely: Melvin, Paul, Warren Lucille, Frank, and Donald, who, with the bereaved wife (Note: Margaret was pregnant with Judith) and mother are left to mourn his untimely passing.

Following their marriage the young couple settled on a farm near Aspinwall and followed the farming trade for nine years, after which they moved to Aspinwall where they have resided since.

Mr. Wegner was preceded in death by his father who passed away on February 6, 1907, and his mother in 1915 on December 28th, also one sister Oval, Mrs. Herman Sinow in March, 1932 and a brother, William Wegner in October 1937.

He is survived by his wife and children and five sisters: Anna, Mrs. Fred Ehlers of Botna; Emma, Mrs. William Sander of Manning; Gusta, Mrs. Charles Ehlers of Sunol, Nebraska; Maggie Mrs. Hugo Kuhl of Manning; Ella, Mrs. Emil Ehlers of Manning; and two brothers: George Wegner of Manning and Frank Wegner of Zurich, Montana, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 P.M. at the Ohde Funeral Home, the Reverend Alexander Wimberly, Pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Manning, conducting the services.

Interment was made at the Manning Cemetery, and as pallbearers acted six nephews, Ray Sander, Edwin Wegner, Edward Wegner, George Wegner, Jr., Leman Ehlers, and Freddie Ehlers.
