Emil Sander
Funeral services for Emil Sander, 74, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Ohde Funeral Home here. Dr. F.E. Hamlin, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, will officiate.

Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery. Pallbearers, grandsons of Mr. Sander, will be Ian, Donald, Donivon, and Jimmy Sander, Wayne Jahn, and Richard Cihacek.

Mr. Sander died in his sleep of a heart condition. He was found dead in bed at his home here Monday morning, September 12, 1955. He had been in ill health for some time but had not been bedfast.

Mr. Sander was born April 29, 1881, in Husum, Germany. His parents died when he was a small boy. At the age of 15, he came to the United States with a sister, Mrs. Alvin Marti, who now lives at Audubon.

He worked as a farmhand for some time before farming for himself.

Mr. Sander was married to Katie Moller February 10, 1904, at Manning. They farmed in South Dakota for two years and in the Manning vicinity until they retired about 14 years ago. After living at Lake Okoboji for two years, they came to Manning, which has been their home the last 12 years.

Surviving are his wife, six sons: Herman. Omaha; William, Schleswig; Hugo, Arnolds Park; Louie, Milford; Max and Harry, Elkhorn; his sister, Mrs. Marti, 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The last great-grandson was born to Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Jahn of Manning Monday night.

Four brothers, William, Adolph, John, and Pete Sander, and one sister, Mrs. Andrew Boss, are deceased.
