Last Rites For Mrs. Emil Miller

Zion Lutheran Church was filled to overflowing Sunday afternoon when relatives and friends gathered to pay their last respects to Mrs. Emil Miller, who passed away suddenly last Thursday afternoon, December 24, 1947, from an embolism when she was apparently recovering from a major operation performed the previous week. She was looking forward to being home with her family for Christmas. She was 44 years, 2 months, and 27 days old at the time of her death.

Hymns sung by the congregation included, "Beloved It Is Well," Jerusalem My Happy Home," and "Be Still My Soul." Floral offerings completely filled the chancel of the church and surrounded the casket and also many memorial wreaths given in her memory, bespoke the love and esteem in which the departed was held. Rev. M.F. Scheips based his comforting words on the text: "Come, and let us return unto the Lord" Hosea 6-1.

Burial took place in Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery at Norfolk, Nebraska, with the following serving as pallbearers, Ralph Tesch, Charles Chilvers, Albert Jensen, Alfred Dinkel, Otto Altwine, and George Schulz.
