Ella Anna Stammer, age 98, of Manning, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2018, at the Manilla Manor Nursing Home in Manilla.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 19, 2018, at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning with Pastor Jonathan Conner and Pastor Robert Riggert officiating. Organist for the service will be Timothy Conner. Casket bearers will be Mark Nobiling, Don Nobiling, Jerry Nobiling, Stan Grundmeier, James Hill, Doug Hansman. Burial will be in the Westside Cemetery near Westside.

Visitation will be held at Zion Lutheran in Manning from 10 - 11 A.M. on Thursday. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Manning and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com

Born on March 23, 1920, on her family's farm near Westside, she was the daughter of William and Anna (Henricksen) Nobiling. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia. She grew up on the farm and graduated from Arcadia High School in 1937. She was married to Leslie Stammer on January 30, 1940, at Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia by Pastor Theo Tews. Les and Ella farmed near Westside until purchasing a farm south of Aspinwall in 1946. Ella was a farmwife and very active in her church, Trinity Lutheran in Manilla. Sewing was Ella's passion and she was a master seamstress. They purchased a home in Manning in 1982 and Les passed away in 1984. Ella continued to live in Manning until she moved to Westwood Knolls Assisted in Carroll in 2011. She has made her home at the Manilla Manor Nursing Home for the past year where she received compassionate loving care.

Ella is survived by her daughter Lola Rowedder (Doug) of Denison; her grandchildren: Derek Rowedder (Amy) of Cedar Rapids, Lacey Pete-Hill (Bradford) of Houston, Texas, Marty Schaefer (Paula) of Tyler, Texas; Ann Lorenzen of Des Moines, Lori Dicks (Jason) of Storm Lake, and Carrie Reiling and her husband Jess of Dallas Center; many great grandchildren; her sister Viola Hill of Schleswig; her sister-in-law Lucille Nobiling of Carroll; and several nieces nephews.

Ella was preceded in death by her parents William and Anne Nobiling; her mother and father-in-law Louis and Mary Stammer; her sister Charlotte "Lottie" Grundmeier; her son Lowell Stammer (Connie); and four brothers: Elmer, Orville, William, and Edward.
