Ella Anna Brus was born to Mr. and Mrs. John Brus, near Dixon, Scott County, Iowa, on the 13th of April 1883, and died at her home in South Manning, after an extended illness, on the morning of June 9th, 1941, at the age of 58 years, 1 month, and 26 days.
The deceased's parents brought her to this vicinity when she was but a year old and she lived with them on their farm home, about 8 miles northwest of Manning, where she continued in residence until February 24, 1904, when she vas united in marriage to Herman C. Nagel, and took up residence on a farm near Manning. There she continued with her husband until the year 1929, when they retired from the farm and moved to Manning. Here she resided until her death on Monday morning of last week, June 9th.
To Mr. and Mrs. Nagel was born one daughter, Neoma (Mrs. R.R. Kuhl).
Surviving the deceased are: her husband; the daughter Neoma; a granddaughter, Janet Lee Kuhl; also five brothers and two sisters: Henry of Manilla; Mrs. Lillian Jensen of Bloomfield, Nebraska; John, Charlie, Hugo, and Otto of Manning; and Clara (Mrs. Alfred Ehrichs) of Aspinwall, Iowa.
The deceased was a member of several town clubs at various times. She was a model homemaker and a good neighbor and friend, who will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
Mrs. Nagel had been under doctor's care for the past year. She entered the Clarkson Hospital in Omaha last January, returning to her home March 3rd where she was lovingly cared for by her husband, daughter and sister-in-law until the end.
Sincerest sympathy is felt for those who are now left to mourn her departure and who thus cared for her with such devotion during her protracted illness.
Funeral services were held last Thursday afternoon at the Ohde Funeral Home with Rev. F.C. Aldrich, pastor of the Methodist church officiating. Interment was in the Manning Cemetery. Acting as pallbearers were William Brus, John Brus Jr., LeRoy Brus, Arnold Brus, William Jensen, and Johnny Ehrichs.
