Elizabeth Wulf
Gone to Her Reward.
Mrs. Elizabeth Wulf was born in Schleswig, Holstein, Germany, August 22, 1858, and died Saturday
morning, October 3, 1908, at the home of her son, Henry, in Omaha. When she was thirteen
years old her father and mother, Claus and Dorothy Boldt, with their family, came from
Germany to Davenport, Iowa. There on February 5, 1876, Elizabeth was married to Henry F.
Wulf. They came immediately to this part of Iowa and lived on a farm until the death of Mr. Wulf in September 1900.
Mr. and Mrs. Wulf had a family of fourteen children. When Mr. Wulf died eight years ago, ten of these children were still living, many of them quite young. During the last eight years Mrs. Wulf has borne the burden of this family, as only a mother can. Her health has not been good; she has known much of suffering, work and anxiety. Like many another mother she has been helpful, patient and uncomplaining. Last week she went to visit her son, Henry, who lives in Omaha. On Wednesday she was much fatigued by a trip down town. Friday morning it was necessary to call a physician and that afternoon she became unconscious, remaining in that condition until Saturday morning at 3 o'clock, when the sleep of death quietly settled upon her.
Ten children survive her and were present at the funeral. Henry F. Wulf is a carpenter at Omaha; Mrs. Emma Bartels has her home in Irwin; John, Will, Rosa, Clara, Frank, Charlie and Eddie are all at home in Manning. Mrs. Wulf's parents are still living in Davenport. Her four brothers, Henry, Julius, John and Herman Boldt, and her sister, Mrs. Emma Buck, are still living. Mr. John Boldt and Mrs. Emma Buck were here at the funeral.
The funeral services were held at the home at 10 o'clock Monday morning, October 5, conducted by Rev. F.A. Heizer. The remains were interred in the cemetery of Lincoln Township, Audubon County. A large number of friends were present to sympathize with the family in the loss of one who has borne so many of the burdens of life and has done what she could to make life pleasant for the little ones left in her care.
