Funeral services for Elizabeth Augusta Ross, 89, were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 25, 1973, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. Pastor Edward F. Heinicke officiated with burial in the Manning Cemetery. Pallbearers were Clarence Barten, Herbert Ullerich, Walter Ullerich, W.G. Asmus, Walter Bald, and Herman Bald.
Elizabeth Augusta Ross was born on July 4, 1883, in Lincoln Township, Audubon County. She attended rural schools near her home and was united in marriage to Fred Ross on February 20, 1906. They farmed in Lincoln Township until 1913 when they moved to Manning. Her husband died in April 1939, and a daughter, Selma Hopkins, died September 18, 1962. Elizabeth made her home in Manning with her son Raymond, and helped raise his family. She passed away at St. Anthony's Hospital in Carroll on Thursday evening, June 21, 1973, after a short illness.
Besides her husband and daughter, she was preceded in death by brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her son, Raymond Ross, of Manning; four grandchildren: Wayne Ross, Perry, Ohio; Mrs. Dave (Betty May), Howe, Houston, Texas; Daru Ross, Manning; and Connie Ross, Des Moines; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters: Mrs. Marie Starck, Aurora, Illinois; and. Mrs. Louise Berlin of Hobart, Indiana.
