Thank you Lord for all the great memories of our Mom.
• Mom fulfilled my needs and wishes. A time that stands out is when I was about 6 and graduating from bib overalls to pants. She bought me my first belt -- it was leather and had colored jewels. I thought it was beautiful!
• Mom carried 2 buckets of water at a time from the pump to the house and heated the water on the wood stove to wash our clothes.
• Mom rubbed musterole on our aching bones and joints in the middle of the night.
• I remember Mom for her homemade bread and cinnamon rolls. Also for the elderberry soup and dumplings and the best lemon jelly-roll in the whole county
• She knew I liked her sour cream peach pie the best so she'd make it for me on special occasions.
• After working a long day on the farm, I remember coming in and having fried eggs, fried potatoes, and stewed tomatoes mixed together.
Thank you Lord
for all the great memories of our Grandma.
• Grandma always told me to be proud of my height and to not listen to anyone who told me I was too tall. Her aunt had told Grandma that she needed a brick on her head so she'd stop growing and it always bothered her.
• I remember gathering around Grandma when she was making pie hoping for a little extra dough to eat. She always made sure there was a little bit for each of us.
• Grandma was a wonderful cook! I remember cornbread and Karo syrup, sticky buns, the smell and taste of bacon and eggs, angel food cake and strawberries, and Schwan's ice cream in the evenings.
• I remember playing cards and words that were thrown into conversation like "youse kids" and "neh?"
Thank you Lord
for all the great memories of our Great-Grandma.
She really enjoyed showing off her Great-Granddaughters by taking them for rides in her wheelchair with her in the Plaza.
