EFFIE WHITCHER

Funeral services for Effie Whitcher will be held Thursday, January 12, 1978, at 2 p.m. at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning, with the Rev. Donald Jones of the United Methodist Church officiating. Organist will be Mrs. Dorothy Kusel. Interment will be in the Manning Cemetery with Emil Ruhde, George Fischer, Ruel Whitcher, Jr., Douglas Fischer, Bruce Spaulding, and Stanley Hansen as casketbearers. Ohde Funeral Home in Manning is in charge of the arrangements.

Effie Amelia, daughter of David and Martha (Graham) Mitchell, was born August 9, 1885, in Lincoln Township, Audubon County, Iowa. She attended the rural schools near her home and was united in marriage June 9, 1908, to William Whitcher. They lived in Manilla and Aspinwall for a few years before moving to Manning which is their present home. Effie has been in failing health for the past months and passed away at the Manning General Hospital Monday, January 9, 1978, at the age of 92 years and 5 months.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.

She is survived by her husband, Bill; and three children, Mrs. Fergus Klein of Sioux City; Ruel R. Whitcher, Sr. of Fallon, Nevada; Judson W. Whitcher of Gardena, California; by 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; and by one sister, Doris, Mrs. Ernest Young of Audubon.
