Edward Venner died Wednesday, January 15, 2003, at Banner Garden Hospice House in Mesa, Arizona, at the age of 79.

Ed was born on April 1, 1923, at Breda, Iowa, the son of John and Maggie (Rutten) Venner.

He attended St. Francis Schools at Maple River, Iowa. Ed and Jeanette Dentlinger were married on May 26, 1948, at St. Augustine Church in Halbur, Iowa. The couple farmed their farm southwest of Halbur until September 2001 when they moved to their home in Carroll.

Ed was also a seed salesman for Lynx Hybrids and Mycogen Seed for better than 50 years. He was a member of St. Augustine Parish and was a Past President of the Parish Holy Name Society. He also was a Board Member of the Carroll County Cattleman Association, a member of the Carroll County Pork Producers, and was Past President of the Carroll County N.F.O. He was an Honorary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Fourth Degree General Assembly. Ed dearly loved his family and enjoyed fishing and playing cards.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; daughters: Barbara Killion and Sandra (husband, Robert Bender) Venner; grandchildren: Christopher (girlfriend, Colleen Nadaeu) Killion; and Deana (husband, Brian) Webber; brothers: Albin (Rita) Venner; and Cyril (Anita) Venner; a sister: Dorothy (Alvin) Bellinghausen; and sisters and brothers-in-law: Dorothy Venner; Agatha and Clarence Fischer; Angela and Lester Riesberg; Gladys Halbur; Jerome and Elaine Dentlinger; and James and Rita Dentlinger.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Lawrence, Clarence, Andrew, and Tony Venner; and sisters: Helen Meister, Marie Redid, Florence Bellinghausen, and Rita Koester.
