Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 19, at United Methodist Church in Manning with Pastor Larry McAlpine officiating. Burial will be at the Manning Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Doug, David, Rick, Dan, Ron, and Eric Ramsey. Honorary casket bearers will be Tim Pedersen, Kevin Mier, John Eivins, Jon Esdohr, Jim Mohr, and Roger Wiese.
Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. today at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning.
Born November 10, 1908, near Botna, in Crawford County, Iowa, he was a son of Charles and Bessie (Johnson) Ramsey.
He attended Iowa No. 8 rural school near his home and then Manning High School. After he completed schooling he worked with his father on the family farm.
On September 8, 1932, he married Dolores Ohm at Fremont, Nebraska.
Mr. Ramsey worked at the Manning Creamery until 1936, when he started trucking in Manilla on his own. Later he worked in partnership with a brother in the Ramsey Transfer trucking business. He retired in 1973.
He enjoyed woodworking and working with his horses.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Because of failing health, he became a resident of Manning Plaza in February 1995.
Mrs. Ramsey is survived by his wife, Dolores, of Manning; two sons and their wives, Leonard and Marlene Ramsey of Coon Rapids and Dennis and Joan Ramsey of Manning; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers and their wives, Jack and Edna Ramsey and Orren and Fern Ramsey, all of Manning; three sisters, Juanita Boeck of Harlan, Mary Ramsey of Manning and Bernice Laverty of Manning; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Ohm of Sacramento, California, and Mildred Ramsey of Carroll.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Jon E. Ramsey; two brothers, Mayburn Ramsey and his wife, Phyllis, and Ralph "Jake" Ramsey; two sisters, Thelma and her husband, Arlo Hodne, and Edna and her husband, Orla Peters; and three brothers-in-law, Richard Ohm, Charles Laverty, and Hugo Boeck.
