EDWARD PUCK
Funeral services for Edward Puck were held Wednesday, November 30, 1988, at 10:30 a.m. at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning, Iowa. Reverend Sushil Joseph of United Methodist Church, Manning, officiated the service with Connie Siepker as organist and Joann Karsten as vocalist. Interment was in Manning City Cemetery with Ed's nine grandsons Randal Lauritsen, Steven Cole, Jason Ernst, Todd Puck, Bradley Puck, Michael Lauritsen, David Cole, Gregory Puck and Jeremy Puck as casketbearers.
Edward, son of William and Margretha (Joens) Puck, was born November 13, 1907, in Lincoln Township, Audubon County, Iowa. He attended country school and one year of high school in Manning. After completing his education he farmed at home with his family.
February 5, 1941, Edward was united in marriage with Helen Moeckl. Six children: Ella, Wanda, Helen, Edward, Garry, and Ben, were born to this union. They farmed east of Gray in Cameron Township for over 20 years and for a short period of time in Greeley Township, Audubon County. In 1968 Edward moved back to his home farm in Lincoln Township where he farmed until moving to Manning in 1979.
Edward served as a 4-H leader and also served on church boards in the First Methodist Church in Gray, Iowa. After he moved to Manning Edward became a
member of the United Methodist Church in Manning.
Edward had been ill for about a month and died from cancer Monday, November 28, 1988, at Manning General Hospital at the age of 81 years and 15 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents; by the following brothers: Peter, George, Albert, Adolph, Harry, Benhard and William; and by the following sisters: Alvina, Ella, Frieda, Laura and Minnie.
Edward is survived by his wife, Helen, of Manning; by the following children: Ella and her husband, Earl Lauritsen, of Exira; Wanda and her husband, Allan Johnson, of Faribault, Minnesota; Helen and her husband, Steven Ernst, of LeMars; Edward A. Puck and his wife, Vicki, of Audubon; Garry William Puck and his wife, Becky, of Manning; and Ben Puck and his wife, Kathy, of Manning; by the following grandchildren: Randal and Mike Lauritsen; Steven and David Colo, Jason and Carrie Ernst; Stacy, Gregory, Amy, and Bradley Puck; Brenda, Todd, and Sara Puck; and Jeremy, Nancy, and Mary Puck; by a sister, Maggie Puck of Manning; by two sisters-in-law, Velma Puck, of Manning and Elsie Puck, of Manilla.
