She was baptized on August 19, 1906, in Aspinwall and was confirmed on May 20, 1923, at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. Edna attended country schools near Manning, and then attended Snow's Dressmaking College in Manning. She then helped her father on the farm.
On October 12, 1927, Edna was united in marriage with LeRoy John Schumann at the Lutheran parsonage in Manning. They lived on LeRoy's home farm near Westside. In 1969 they moved to their new home in Manning. In November of 1994, Edna and LeRoy became residents of the Manning Plaza Nursing Home. Leroy died there in 1996.
