Edna, daughter of William and Louise (Sievers) Wunder, was born July 23, 1905, in Hayes Township, Crawford County, Iowa. She attended rural schools.
In 1928 Edna was united in marriage with Harlan Phillips. Two children, Doris and Robert, were born to this union. Edna made her home on a farm in Hayes Township, moving to Manilla in 1958. Edna had been ill for the past three weeks. She died late Tuesday morning, February 21, 1989, at Bishop Clarkson Memorial Hospital in Omaha, at the age of 83 years, 6 months, and 29 days.
She was preceded in death by her parents; by a brother, Edwin Wunder; by two sons-in-law, Norman Gruhn and Larry Witt, and by one grandchild, Todd Phillips.
Edna is survived by her daughter, Doris Witt, of rural Manning; by her son, Robert Phillips and his wife, Audrey, of Manning; by six grandchildren: Brian Gruhn; Kenton Gruhn and his wife, Sandra; Krista Witt; Lynn Phillips and his wife, Mary; Becky Zinke and her husband, Steve; and Lisa Rohe and her husband, Daryl; by 11 great-grandchildren; by her sister, Erna Sander, of Manning; and by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
