Funeral Services for Edna Anna Meyer was held on Thursday, April 10, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Carroll, Iowa. Pastor Michael Fitzsimmons officiated with interment in the Manning Cemetery in Manning, Iowa. Casketbearers were Jerry Barten, Chris Barten, Matt Pohlman, Larry Meyer, Tom Selk, Mike Bunting, Jim Meyer, and Kevin Laubscher.
Edna Anna, daughter of Johnannas Marcus and Sarah (Wiese) Hell, was born on September 28, 1911, in Audubon County, Iowa. As a girl she attended school in Manning.
She was married to Carl F. Meyer on July 3, 1929, at Sac City, Iowa. Edna and Carl farmed in the Vail area for many years. After his death she moved to Schleswig for thirteen years, to Carroll for eight years, and then to Algona for three and one-half years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Carroll, the Presbyterian Women, and while living in Vail she was a member of the Gleaners of the Presbyterian Church.
Edna died at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Algona on April 7, 2003. She was 91 years of age.
She was preceded in death by her husband Carl in 1977, a son Marcus in 1951, and a sister Ella Selk.
Edna is survived by a son Donald Gene Meyer and his wife Jolene of Carroll; a daughter Jeanette Pohlman of Algona; a daughter Sarah Barten and her husband Jerald of Ankeny; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchildren; a nephew Thomas Selk; four foster grandchildren; and four foster-great-grandchildren.
