EDNA ANNA MEGGERS
Edna Anna Meggers, daughter of Hans and Lizzie (Kai) Lamaack was born October 4, 1903, in Nishnabotna Township, Crawford County, Iowa. She attended country schools near her home. On December 14, 1927, Edna was united in marriage with Johnnie Meggers in Denison. Twins were born to this union. However, the girl died in infancy. The family lived in Manilla until 1946 when they moved to Botna. In January of 1955, Edna's husband died at the age of 49. Then, after a fire destroyed her home in Botna in 1977, Edna moved to Aspinwall. Her son Wayne died on September 10, 1981. Edna became a resident of the Manilla Manor Nursing Home on June 21, 1989, and died there on Monday, May 20, 1996, at the age of 92 years, 7 months and 16 days.

Besides her parents, husband, and children, Edna was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren: Robbie and Sammie Chase, two brothers: Henry and Harry Lamaack, a sister, Geraldyn Schroeder, and a sister-in law, Malinda Erps.

Edna is survived by three grandchildren: Bonnie Chase, of Cedar Rapids; Deborah Meggers, of Council Bluffs; John Meggers, of Council Bluffs; a sister, Anna M. Saunders, of California; in-laws: Lester Meggers, and Norma Lamaack; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
