Dorothy M. Struve, 94, of Friendship Haven, died Thursday, April 6, 2017, at the Simpson Health Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Dorothy Marie Pahde was born August 15, 1922, in Manning, Iowa. The daughter of Herman and Alma (Rohr) Pahde, she was baptized on September 17, 1922, and confirmed on April 18, 1937, in Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. She graduated from Manning High School in 1940. She was a member of the Normal Training Department. After graduating she taught in country school at Ewoldt No. 1 north of Manning, and in Gray, Iowa. On August 22, 1941, she was married to Donald E. Struve at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, Iowa. They moved to Wichita, Kansas, where Don was drafted into the Army Air Corps during WWII. Following that war, they made their home in Moorland, Iowa. Dorothy taught country school east of Moorland. In 1956 she accepted a teaching job at St. Paul's Lutheran School in Fort Dodge and they moved to Fort Dodge. She taught Kindergarten in the mornings and second grade in the afternoons. In the following years she taught fourth grade and then seventh grade. She retired from teaching in 1964. Later she became the manager of the Brandow Fabric Shop and then worked for the Webster County Assessor.

Dorothy and Don loved antiques and eventually restored a historic home that was filled with treasures. They had a small antique shop in their house and enjoyed going to auctions.

Survivors include daughters: Julie (Joseph) Anderson and Mary (Gary) Moore. Five grandchildren: Jennifer (Gregg) Haan, Jessica (Tom) Forrestal, Jocelyn (Todd) Roberts, Nicholas (Lisa) Moore, and Jonathan (Catherine) Moore. Nine great grandchildren: Hayden and Carson Haan, Megan and Molly Forrestal, Magnus, Raif, and Reece Roberts, and Jacob and Lucas Moore. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Don, her parents Herman and Alma Pahde, and her sister Donna Kohnke.

Dorothy was a member of the St. Paul's Quilters and the Mission House in Fort Dodge.

Dorothy was called to her eternal home on April 6, 2017, at the age of 94 years, 7 months, 22 days.
