DOROTHY J. SHARP
Funeral services for Dorothy J. Sharp were held Saturday, December 29, 1984, at the First Presbyterian Church in Manning, at 11:00 a.m. Reverend James Cobb of the United Presbyterian Church in Denison officiated. Judy Joens was vocalist and organist was Connie Siepker. Interment was held in Manning City Cemetery with Lester Meggers, Lowell Schroeder, Bennie Otto, Clifford Tank, Harold Schmidt, and Glen Jensen as casketbearers.
Dorothy, daughter of Fred Kienapfel and Caroline Ploen, was born September 15, 1914, at Manning, Iowa. She was graduated from Manning High School in 1932. On November 19, 1939, she was united in marriage with Tom Sharp. They lived on a farm near Dow City for nine years and in 1949 moved to a farm near Aspinwall. Dorothy and Tom lived on the farm until late 1984 when they moved into Denison because of her health.
Dorothy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Manning for 57 years where she served as president of UPW, Circle Chairman, Church Trustee, Sunday School teacher, and Secretary/Treasurer of the Church Centennial Committee. Most recently she had served as Treasurer of UPW. For 15 years she served as Recorder of Royal Neighbors Insurance Company. For nearly 36 years she had been a member of the Happy Hour Club. Dorothy was a member of the Auxiliary of the Aspinwall Community Cub.
After a lengthy illness, Dorothy died on December 25, 1984, at the University of Nebrasks Medical Center in Omaha, at the age of 70 years, 3 months, and 10 days.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one son, Don Sharp, on June 20, 1980.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Tom, of Denison; a son, William Sharp, of Polk City; a daughter, Carole, Mrs. Ron Evilsizer, of Denison; three grandchildren, Rhonda and Julie Evilsizer, and Chris Sharp; a brother, Harold Kienapfel, of Carroll; a sister, Margie Kienapfel of Manning; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Ohde Funeral Home in Manning was in charge of arrangements.
