Dorothy Obmann

Funeral services for Dorothy Obmann of Wall Lake, Iowa were held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2006 at the Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake. Rev. Roger Carlisle officiated. Burial was in the Wall Lake Cemetery.

Dorothy Rose, the daughter of Fred and Dora (Lehmberg) Rose, was born on October 29, 1906, on the family farm north of Halbur, Iowa. She was baptized on December 23, 1906, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia, Iowa and confirmed there on March 20, 1921.
She lived with her parents on the farm and attended Carroll County country school.

On January 24, 1935, Dorothy was united in marriage to Vern Obmann at the Zion Lutheran Church parsonage, by Pastor Theodore A. Tews. To this union three children were born Fred, Linda, and Joyce.

The family lived on a farm where she helped with chores, and made a comfortable home for her family. She enjoyed baking bread and rolls and made the best apple dumplings. Other interests included gardening, raising flowers, and playing cards. She enjoyed attending family functions and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake where she participated in ladies aid, altar committee and served on Twilight Acres Coffee Time. Prior to her marriage she was a Sunday school teacher at Zion Lutheran Church.

Dorothy, age 100, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2006, at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital, in Lake City, IA.
Survivors include her son, Fred and wife Marilyn Obmann of Breda, IA; two daughters, Linda Lasher and husband Larry of Glid den, IA and Joyce Schroeder and husband Gary of Manning, IA.

Other survivors include her seven grandchildren and their spouse; Denise and Terry Schwab, Gaylan and Lesa Schroeder, Luann Lasher-Gregg and husband Jeff, Lance and Ann Lasher, Lenny and Jennifer Lasher, Lynnette and Craig Aschinger and Dennis and Cindy Obmann; 17 great grandchildren; and a brother, Daniel Rose of Lake Park, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vern, in 1985; one brother, Chris Rose; and three sisters, Hilda Doitch, Loretta Boldt, and Lillian Obmann.

Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Wall Lake was in charge of arrangements.
