Dies At Davenport May 29, 1940
Bruno Thomsen received word Wednesday morning that his mother, Mrs. Dora Thomsen, had passed away at Davenport while visiting with relatives there.
Mrs. Thomsen, a long time resident of Manning, accompanied her son Ted to Davenport some time ago, to visit with friends and relatives. She had been in apparent good health until just a few days before her death.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 31, 1940, at Davenport and burial will be made there beside her husband who died in 1930.
Mrs. Thomsen, 77, was injured in a fall at her home about two years ago from which she never fully recovered although she was able to continue her work.
The deceased was born in Davenport, Oct. 22, 1862 and came to Manning in 1889. She married H.W. Thomsen here four years later.
Four children survive: T.H. Thomsen of Oakland, Calif.; Bruno Thomsen of Manning; Mrs. L.G. Wheeler of Tacoma, Wash.; and Mrs. E. Fisher of Chicago.
Mrs. Thomsen had been engaged, in the dress making trade for a number of years at her home on Center Street.
Rites Held For Mrs. Dora Thomsen At Davenport
Mrs. Thomsen had been visiting relatives in Davenport only a short while when she became ill. Her death came as shock to friends land relatives who learned of her passing, Wednesday morning, May 29. She had accompanied her son Ted to Davenport several weeks ago she stopping off with relatives and he continuing on to Chicago. Since the death of her husband in 1930 she had lived at her home on Center Street with her son Bruno. For a number of years she was actively engaged as a seamstress. Mrs. Thomsen who was 77 years of age, suffered a fall in her home several years ago and never completely recovered although she was able to carry on her work as usual.
The deceased was born Davenport, October 22, 1862 and on July 3, 1884, she was united in marriage with Henry Thomsen at Davenport. In 1897 they moved to Manning where they maintained their home thereafter.
Four children remain to mourn her passing: T.H. Thomsen of Oakland, Calif; Bruno Thomsen of Manning; Mrs. L.G. Wheeler of Tacoma, Wash.; and Mrs. E. Fisher of Chicago.
