Dora Margaret Ohrt was born in Schleswig, Holstein, Germany, May 11, 1877, and passed away at the St. Anthony hospital in Carroll, May 6, 1943, being almost 66 years of age.
A spinal injury in early infancy crippled her for life but she otherwise was blessed with good health.
For the past four years her health declined and she had been in the hospital for nearly a month before her death.
In 1882 when she was five years old, she came with her parents to America and lived with them in Westside and on the farm until about 1895. The family then retired and moved to Westside, where she lived with her parents until her father passed away in 1901 and her mother in 1903. Since that time, Miss Ohrt has lived with her sister, Minnie (Mrs. Henry) Biehl the greater share of the time, first in Omaha and since 1909 in Manning.
To her friends and neighbors, old and young, she was affectionately known as Aunt Dora.
Surviving are two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Henry Biehl, Manning and Mrs. Albert Fonken (Catherine), Happy, Texas; Hans Ohrt living north of Manning, and Henry Ohrt of south Manning. Another brother, John, died a few years ago. Several nephews and nieces also mourn her passing.
Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Mrs. Martha (Nicholas C.) Schrum, Mrs. Albert Dietz, Burton Hoffmann, Clifford M. Johnson; Bonita (Mrs. Henry W.) Hagedorn, accompanist.
