Donna Venteicher
Donna Rae, daughter of George and Lois (Weems) Wegner, was born December 29, 1946, in Manning, Iowa. She grew up on the Wegner century farm south of Aspinwall, attending Iowa No. 8 country school, and graduated from Manning High School in 1965. After graduation, she worked at the Denison Hospital as a bookkeeper.

On May 23, 1970, Donna was united in marriage with James Venteicher at Sacred Heart Church in Manning. Three children were born of this union. They made their first home on a family farm near Manilla, Iowa, for about 10 years before settling on the present family farm south of Manning.

Donna thrived being a farm wife and stay-at-home mother. She had a special talent for sewing and embroidery, making many personalized baby blankets for friends and family. She also had a knack for gardening, was a talented artist, and loved playing games of all kinds with her children.

During retirement, Donna and Jim spent winters in Black Canyon City, Arizona. While there, they made many new friends with whom they enjoyed sightseeing and riding side by sides. Donna also became a member of a sewing circle that made blankets for school kids.

On Monday, March 18, 2024, Donna passed away at Manning Regional Healthcare Center in Manning, Iowa, following a brief illness.

Donna is survived by her husband James Venteicher of Manning; three children: Brenda Murphy of Merrill, Kenneth J. Venteicher of Newton, and Joya (Brad) Riesenberg of Breda; step-daughter, Renee (Troy) Haberl of Cave Creek, Arizona; three grandchildren: Bryce Clark, Jeep Clark, and Wylie Clark; and siblings-in-law, Russell Johnson, Adrian, Minnesota; Robert Venteicher of San Francisco, California; Rick (Karen) Venteicher of Southlake, Texas; Lynn (Sue) Venteicher of Pella; and Diane Scriven of Broomfield, Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Kathryn Powell and Janice Johnson; parents-in-law: Edward and Loretta Venteicher, and Genevieve Venteicher, sisters-in-law: Sil Venteicher and Shirley Sjobakken; and brothers-in-law: LeRoy Venteicher, Kenneth F. Venteicher, James Sjobakken, and Clark Scriven.

Visitation with the family greeting friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manning and interment will follow in the Manning Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.
