Donald Younie

Funeral services for Donald W. Younie, 67, of Yankton, South Dakota, were held Friday, May 20, 1994, at 10:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Yankton, South Dakota. Reverend Craig J. Bock, officiated the service. Interment was held in the Union Cemetery in Pomeroy, Iowa, with military graveside rites performed by the American Legion Veterans in Pomeroy.

Donald W. Younie died Wednesday, May 18, 1994, at his residence.

He was born on June 1, 1926, in Hawarden, Iowa, to Clifford and Thelma (Comstock) Younie. He grew up and started public schools in Hawarden before his family moved to Manilla, Iowa. There he graduated from high school. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and service in the Marines as well. He married Ruth Musfeldt June 1, 1947, in Manning, Iowa. He went to work for McKesson and Robbins and then the Brown Drug Co., as a sales representative for a combined period of over thirty years.

The couple lived in various towns in Iowa and Nebraska and lived in Yankton since 1971. Mr. Younie retired in 1983 because of health disability. He was a member of the Ernest Bowyer Post No. 791, V.F.W. in Yankton and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Yankton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth; two sons, Paul W., Little Falls, Minnesota and David C., Omaha, Nebraska; one daughter, Martha (Mrs. Dean) Holtorf, Pomeroy, Iowa, and five grandchildren.
