DONALD HENERY LEWIS SCHROEDER
Donald Henery Lewis Schroeder was born to William J. Schroeder and Rosa J. Dammann Schroeder on September 26, 1924, in Aspinwall, Iowa. He was confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning on April 15,1943. Don attended school inAspinwall through the 8th grade and high school in Manning, Iowa, graduating with the class of 1942. After graduation he worked for the Milwaukee Railroad as a depot agent.

On December 3, 1955, Don was united in marriage to Kathryn L. Ingraham of Des Moines at Trinity Lutheran Church in Manilla. They lived in Manilla until 1956 when they moved to Persia, Iowa, where he was depot agent until 1962. Don was then transferred to Des Moines where he worked for Union Railroad until his retirement in 1987.
Don and Kathryn spent the winter in the south until Don's health would not permit them to do so.

Don passed away at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines on August 19, 1999 following surgery and respiratory ailment. He had reached the age of 74 years, 8 months and 19 days.
He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Des Moines.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
He is survived by his wife Kathryn, a son, Mark and his wife Nanette; two grandson's, Shawn and Matthew, all of Des Moines; a sister, Shirley Swanson of Manilla and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services were held August 21, 1999, at 9:00 A.M. at Southtown Funeral Home in Des Moines for Donald Henery Lewis Schroeder of Des Moines. Rev. Peter Wegner of Des Moines officiated. Services were also held at 12:30 P.M. August 21, 1999 atTrinity Lutheran Church in Manilla with Rev. Timothy Geitz of Manilla and Rev. Peter Wegner officiating.

Pallbearers were Rick Dickoff, Dennis Swanson, Dale Swanson, Wendell Adamson, Jr., Randall Stonehocker, Randy Ingraham and Duane Swanson.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Boy Scouts of America which Don took an active part in with his grandson's.
